opportunities for this holiday season: Your Boy Scout or Girl Scout troop can help volunteer at our Annual Holiday Party Sunday, Dec. 20 by assembling a gingerbread house making team. You would acquire needed items, pre-assemble simple gingerbread houses, and then help kids decorate them that Sunday. You would have to act fast to do this one! Call for details. You can still purchase a holiday gift for one of our children. We have some teens asking or gift cards for clothing, books,
Our hat’s off to you, our dear supporters, for your help this past year. We especially thank everyone who voted for Emmanuel Cancer Foundation in Liquidnet’s $150,000 Local Impact Challenge. Thanks to you, we received an eighth place award, which puts us in line for a grant of between $10,000 and $25,000. We thank Dwight D. Eisenhower School for the students’ “spare change” collection and Abundant Life Reformed Church of Wyckoff for their recent food collection. Here are the last minute (time sensitive)

(continued from page 7) come to Waldwick and be engaged and who will set goals that are reachable and measurable. The process to be followed for the search was also discussed, including the formation of a committee of district administrators and educators to screen the resumes with Dr. Hauser, Levine said. Dr. Hauser commented that he felt the district would be receiving a good number of resumes from quality, experienced candidates, although there are many districts looking for superintendents at this time, both in K-12 and K-8 districts. Levine said she will be keeping the public updated at each meeting about the number of resumes that have been received and how the search is progressing. Nine resumes have been received thus far. The deadline for applications is Dec. 31.

music, or electronics stores. You can purchase the ingredients for a holiday dinner or a chain grocery store gift card, or write a year-end, tax-deductible check to Emmanuel Cancer Foundation to help keep our programs going. So far, the usual attention that is given by the community in terms of contributing holiday dinners and holiday gifts for the kids has been low the side. I am hoping this picks up, because it has never been an issue. Here are the opportunities: The children of Emmanuel Cancer have given us their wish list for a holiday gift. If you would like to adopt a child for the December holiday, please call us at (201) 6128118. December Holiday Dinner: You can consider the December Holiday Dinner as a giving idea. If you are in a hurry, simply buy a gift card at your local chain grocery store. Figure out what it would cost to buy everything (including the turkey or ham) for a family of six. The amount of the card could be anywhere from $40 to $60 for the basics, or higher if you add extras. You can put together a basket (or a bag or a box) of non-perishable items that a family can use to create the holiday meal. Suggested items can be things like stuff-
ing, turkey gravy or gravy master, canned yams, a disposable turkey pan, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, pie filling, pie crust, fresh yams, potatoes, onions, coffee and tea, cake mix and icing, pancake mix and syrup (for the breakfast, of course!) and a chain grocery store gift certificate so they can get a turkey and fresh items. If possible, augment the dinner with a ham or turkey. Call us and we’ll give you a family. All you need to do is assemble the foods and drop them off here at the Midland Park office. We will make the deliveries in time for the holiday. We need office volunteers during the following times: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 2:30 to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call us at (201) 612-8118 before you stop by. Please do not leave items at the center without checking with us first. Our storage space is limited. Our current hours are Monday 10 to 1; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 to 5; and Thursday, 10 to 2. The Northern Regional Center is located at 174 Paterson Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432. Visit us on the web at: www.emmanuelcancer.org. As always, thank you for helping the children and their families!
