He will be honored at the Annual Bergen County Governor’s Teacher Recognition Luncheon at the end of May. The school district noted that Akin, who is now in his eighth year of teaching in Allendale, has demonstrated extensive content knowledge and understanding of the interdisciplinary approach using effective, creative inno- vation and efficient instructional techniques. The educator was also recognized for increased student achievement of the core curriculum content standards through a learningfocused environment and has raised expectations for student achievement beyond grade level criteria.
