Allendale
The Allendale Recreation Commission is organizing a 5K run in memory of ARC Coach Ken Kresch. The run will be held on Saturday, May 16 and will begin at 9 a.m. at Crestwood Lake’s Red Barn. The flat, partially unpaved course, which is expected to receive USATF certification, will continue around the ball fields up through Northern Highlands and back through Crestwood, and will end at the Red Barn. mile Fun Run, which will begin at 10 a.m. Entry fees for the 5K are $15 for those who preregister; $20 the day of the race. This entry fee includes a T-shirt. The $5 Fun Run fee does not include a shirt. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each age category. Those categories include female age eight and under, ages 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-35, and 36 and above. Male runners will also be grouped by the same age classifications. To register, mail a check payable to the Allendale Recreation Commission and an official entry form to: Amy Wilczynski, 6 New Street, Allendale. Entry forms are available online at arcsports.org. Those who register in person may pick up race packets Friday, May 15 between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Red Barn or between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. the day of the race. Event organizers encourage members of the community and entire families to participate in the 5K, which will promote wellness and bring vibrancy to Allendale.

The ARC invites all Allendale merchants to participate by setting up a table or booth at the Red Barn at no charge. Local businesses are encouraged to bring giveaways, brochures, food, and other merchandise. Sponsors are also needed. For $250, a company sponsor will receive the company’s name on the back of the event T-shirt, on a thank you poster at the event, and on the ARC website; and a thank you plaque. Family sponsorships are available for $50. The ARC is a non-profit organization. Prospective sponsors are encouraged to email Maureen.kaplan@mac.com.
