The churches involved include the congregations of Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Epiphany Episcopal, Guardian Angel Roman Catholic, Highlands Presbyterian, and the Plant. Again this year, the members of Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River will share in this event as well other Allendale clergy. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly-hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through the middle of Allendale. Along the route, the procession will stop at 14 different locations or “stations” for scripture reading and prayer. Many of the lay readers and leaders of this event are youth from each congregation. These 14 stations will recall the events of Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. A monetary offering will be taken at the last station, which will benefit the Center for Food Action. People of all ages are welcome to participate in this community spiritual event.
