Book Sale coming up Find a bargain at the Upper Saddle River Library’s monthly Saturday book sales. The next sale will be Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. downstairs in the library bookroom. Club hosts contest winners The Woman’s Club of Upper Saddle River will host the winners of the group’s 23rd Annual Poetry and Essay Contest on April 7. The meeting will be held at the Upper Saddle River Library at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The topic for this year was “What One Thing Would You Change About Upper Saddle River?” The winning entries will be read by their authors. This year’s winners are Lauren Bough, third/fourth grade essay; Chiera Brady, third/fourth grade poetry; Ariel
Sabot, fifth/sixth grade essay; Samantha Wei, fifth/sixth grade poetry; Emily Pagano, seventh/eighth grade essay; Nicolette Spaccazento, seventh/eighth grade poetry. Parents, teachers, family and friends are welcome. The winners’ names will be inscribed on plaques at their respective schools as a record of their achievement. The Woman’s Club and the women at Shelter our Sisters thank all who donated so generously to the Baby Shower in February. Donations are still being accepted. Garden Club offers scholarships The Saddle River Garden Club will be awarding academic scholarships to students studying or planning to study environmental sciences or related fields including horticulture and botany. The scholarships total $1,000, represents the amount raised by the garden club’s annual plant sale. To qualify, an applicant must be a Bergen County resident. Deadline for completed application is

Coffee Talk! to discuss Ishiguro novel
Join the new book group, Coffee Talk, with Alice, Ann, and Camille. The group meets the second Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Caffeine provided. On April 9, the group will discuss “Never Let Me Go” by Kauzo Ishiguro. Sign up and pick up a copy of the novel at the circulation desk. Novels at Night to discuss ‘Run’ The next meeting of the Novels at Night book club will be held April 1 at 7:30 p.m. Ann Patchett’s “Run” is the club’s selection for this month. Novels at Night meets the first Wednesday of every month. Newcomers seek members Saddle River Valley Newcomers Club welcomes new members from Saddle River and Upper Saddle River and surrounding communities. Register for spring tennis clinics Registration for the spring tennis clinics will take place at borough hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. There will be a five-week sessions to be held at the Wickersham Tennis Courts. on Mondays or Wednesdays starting the week of May 11.
