September 9, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 19 Area PSE&G at work on area gas main Public Service Electric & Gas is currently replacing a gas main along Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick. Crews will be working on that main thoroughfare between Cleveland Avenue and Franklin Turnpike. The Viggiano Bridge, which is located within this section of Wyckoff Avenue, is not included in this project. The gas main along that section of roadway was replaced earlier. Work on this installation began Sept. 2, and is expected to last eight weeks. Crews are attempting to have the project completed before the arrival of winter weather. The project is being carried out at no cost to Waldwick residents. Last week, PSE&G was working west from the bridge to Cleveland Avenue, which necessitated alternating traffic on Wyckoff Avenue. “Once they get to Maple Avenue, we can divert westbound traffic onto West Prospect Street down to Hopper Avenue,” said Waldwick Police Chief Mark Messner. “Eastbound traffic can proceed normally on Wyckoff Avenue.” Valley Hospital gallery (continued from page 10) An award-winning artist, Leer’s oil paintings capture a moment in time that feels rich with nuance and feeling. Even the simplest objects, seen through prismatic light, are transformed into something extraordinary. The internationally renowned painter, John Phillip Osborne, has likened her work to that of some of the greatest painters: “She paints light in a way that allows her to rise above the subject; the light instead reveals the subject in the same way the Great Masters aspired to using light in their paintings.” The artist’s work has been selected for prestigious juried exhibits by nationally recognized associations, including the Hudson Valley Artists’ Association, the New York Society of Illustrators, the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators (Silver Medal), and the Washington D.C. Society of Illustrators (Honorable Mention). Her art work is part of the permanent collection at the Franklin Institute Museum in Philadelphia. She was awarded the Land of Enchantment Book Award for her illustrations and has created works for a wide variety of clients, including Scholastic Books, Alfred A. Knopf, Children’s Television Network, the Washington Post, and Apple Computers. Ms. Leer is the Curator for the Permanent Collection at the Ridgewood Art Institute, where she is on the board of trustees. IT’S TIME TO START YOUR FREE FALL LANDSCAPE No Obligation Estimate.
