Warnke to lead Day of Reflection All Saints Church in Glen Rock is offering a Day of Reflection on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rev. James Warnke, an Episcopal priest, spiritual director, psychotherapist, expert on visual impairment, and karate will lead the day. Rev. Warnke will address how the comings and goings of ordinary life, including births, deaths, marriages, divorces, new jobs, moves, unemployment, and sending children off to college, affect one’s relationship with God, family members, and others. All Saints Church is located at 40 Central Avenue, Glen Rock. The cost for this event is $15 and includes lunch. Participants should register by Oct. 10. Seniors reminded to return survey Glen Rock senior citizens are reminded that responses to the senior citizen survey are due by Sept. 30. WICS to host Membership Social Community-minded women of Glen Rock are invited to attend the annual Glen Rock Women in Community Service (WICS) Membership Social. The social will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m., at the home of a member. Glen Rock WICS is a service and social club for women of all ages. This gathering will give attendees an opportunity to mingle with members in an informal setting and learn more about WICS programs and activities. Throughout the year, WICS members are involved in a number of community service programs and events. The club organizes the annual spring Blood Drive at Central School, conducts food drives to benefit several local agencies, and contributes members’ time and club funds to charities such as the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Shelter Our Sisters, and the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat. WICS also sponsors the annual townwide spelling bee and co-sponsors with the Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce the Glen Rock Halloween Parade. Seniors plan fall trips The Glen Rock Seniors are planning an Oktoberfest at Mount Haven, Milford, Pennsylvania on Oct. 21. The trip will include live entertainment, two gala-themed buffets, a four-hour open bar, first-run films, a DJ, and activities all day in a beautiful setting. The bus will leave Wilde Park in Glen Rock at 9 a.m. The cost is $43 for members and $46 for non-members. For reservations, call (201) 444-5498. A Patriot Salute Day celebration at the Inn at Hunt’s Landing is planned for Nov. 11. This event will be a salute to the men and women defending our freedom. The trip will include a full hot breakfast buffet, four-hour open bar, dinner buffet, music, dancing, entertainment, and transportation. The cost of the trip is $43 for members, $46 for non-members. Sunday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. More than 25 vendors will be selling everything from costume jewelry and accessories to clothing and knitwear. All proceeds from this event go the GRJC. Admission to the event is free and open to the public. The Glen Rock Jewish Center is located at 682 Harristown Road. Mature Parishioners set meeting The Saint Catharine Association of Mature Parishioners will meet Oct. 16 in the Community Hall at Saint Catharine Church at 2 p.m. The seniors also have planned an Oktoberfest at the Brownstone in Paterson on Friday, Oct. 23. Grad Ball Beefsteak seeks donations The Hang ‘10 Beefsteak Dinner and Auction, the primary fundraiser for the Glen Rock Grad Ball, is planned for Nov. 21 at Saint Leon’s Orthodox Church in Fair Lawn at 7 p.m. The committee is seeking donations for the auction. Tickets are $55 a person and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, and beverages. Reserve seats or a table early; this event tends to sell out quickly.
