November 18, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 23 Glen Rock Roundup Thanksgiving Eve interfaith service set The religious communities of Glen Rock will hold a Thanksgiving Eve Interfaith Service on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the Glen Rock Community Center, 682 Harristown Road, at 8 p.m. The community is invited to this one-hour participatory service. There will be fellowship and refreshments afterwards. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to help families in need. Monetary donations are also welcome. Activities Club adds bicycling group The Activities Club is forming a bicycle group. Plans are being made for programs on bicycle maintenance and safety, Ridgewood to Rochelle Park bike path rides, long rides, including Greenway path in New York City, and a program to collect and repair of older bikes to be donated to the less fortunate. Any men interested in this activity should contact Brian Cassin, (201) 445-5608 or go to the website at theactivitiesclub.org. ‘Macbeth’ comes to Glen Rock The Glen Rock High School Theater Company will perform Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, 20, and 21. All performances will be held in the Glen Rock High School all purpose room located behind the middle school gym. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for senior citizens and students under 18. Dinner and the performance will be offered for the Saturday, Nov. 21 show. Attendees may enjoy a catered dinner with friends and family in the Glen Rock High School cafeteria prior to the performance. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner and the show are $25 for adults, and $20 for senior citizens and students under 18. General admission tickets are also available for this performance. All proceeds support the GRHS Theater Company. Activities Club hosts events Mayor John van Keuren and Beth Betsch will be the guest speakers at the Activities Club’s Nov. 17 meeting. The mayor will discuss current issues of the borough, and Beth Betsch will address the potential changes in Medicare as a result of the new health care program currently in the pipeline in Washington DC. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m., preceded by a half-hour of coffee and socializing at the Community Church in Glen Rock. The annual Christmas/Chanukah luncheon of the organization is planned for Dec. 17 at the Brownstone Inn in Paterson. The affair, which will begin at noon, includes a one hour open bar, a four-course lunch, and dancing to the Tony Giannella Orchestra. Members and guests are invited to attend. Library program change announced The Tea @ Two on Tuesdays program at the Glen Rock Library will no longer be meeting each week. A replacement program, Tea and Talk @ Two on Tuesdays Book Discussion, will meet the third Tuesday of each month. The Nov. 17 discussion will be about the book “Cooking Dirty: A Story of Life, Sex, Love, and Death in the Kitchen” by Jason Sheehan. Sheehan is a James Beard award-winning food writer at Westword, Denver’s alternative weekly newspaper. His memoir is about a straight blue-collar gig, where the kitchens are staffed by the kind of guys who like the fact that the work is grueling. The library is located at 315 Rock Road, Glen Rock. Grad Ball Beefsteak is seeking donations The Hang ‘10 Beefsteak Dinner and Auction, the primary fundraiser for the Glen Rock Grad Ball, is planned for Saturday, Nov. 21 at Saint Leon’s Orthodox Church in Fair Lawn at 7 p.m. The committee is seeking donations for the auction. Tickets to the event are $55 a person and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, and beverages. Reserve seats or a table early; this event tends to sell out quickly.
