Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • November 4, 2009 Glen Rock Sixteen eighth grade students from the Academy of Our Lady in Glen Rock competed in the eleventh annual Saint Joseph Regional High School Scholastic Olympics. For the third consecutive year, the academy team won first place overall in the competition. Over 20 schools from Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union, and Rockland counties competed in the boys’ and girls’ divisions for trophies in art, English, history, mathematics, science, spelling, theology, computer, and Superquiz (topics from all of the above combined with music and current events). Carol Knapp is the moderator/coach of the team. Saint Joseph Regional High School Principal Barry Donnelly remarked in the opening ceremony how gratifying it was to hear the students cheering for their classmates’ academic achievement as loudly as they cheer for their athletic achievements.
