May 6, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 5 Ridgewood Woman’s Club 100 years: Donations improve facility by John Koster Some recent donations by Ridgewood philanthropist David Bolger have helped the Ridgewood Woman’s Club prepare for the celebration of a century of service to the community. Bolger’s most recent donations include the installation of a barrier-free restroom near the ballroom, and the complete renovation of the downstairs men’s and women’s restrooms. “Inspired by the fact that his mother Coby B. Bolger had been a member of the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, Mr. Bolger continues to be most supportive of the club,” said Christine Di Costa of the Woman’s Club. “He not only provides much-needed financial help, but also graciously shares his knowledge, advice, and expertise. Over the years, Mr. Bolger has contributed much time and money to projects pertaining to the clubhouse and its grounds.” Some examples, Di Costa said, included new chandeliers, sconces and air conditioning in the ballroom and living room, a new rug and the reupholstering of furniture in the living room. A two-to-one challenger grant, in which the club raised $30,000 to receive a $15,000 donation from Bolger, led to the renovation of the kitchen. Bolger has also donated chandeliers in the main hallways, insulation for the ballroom ceiling and walls, the stage area and boardroom, a new sound system for the ballroom, lighting for the flagpole and parking lot, the canopy and the exit signs for the building, renovation of the boardroom, including the installation of air conditioning, striping and paving of the driveway, exterior carpentry work, a roof for the canopy, the painting of various rooms and landscaping.
