March 18, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 Ridgewood The Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating two home burglaries that occurred during daylight hours. On March 6, a Mulberry Place resident reported a burglary that took place when a lock was broken on a basement window and the perpetrator apparently crawled inside. The incident took place between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. On March 9, a Red Rock Court resident reported a burglary in which the home was entered through an unlocked door. The home was ransacked, and cash and jewelry were taken. A resident of the area reported a black male and a white male wearing dark colored clothing and carrying a white shopping bag in the vicinity. A K-9 search was unsuccessful. J. KOSTER Village detectives report burglaries On Sunday, March 22, the Men’s Club will present its Man of the Year Breakfast at 10:30 a.m. following the 9:30 a.m. services. Bill Kay will be honored as Temple Israel Man of the Year and will be presented with the Harry Grant Award. Harry Grant was a long time highly involved member of Temple Israel, the Brandeis Men’s Club, and the Northern New Jersey Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. The award is the Brandeis Men’s Club’s way of honoring Grant every year. Members of the Brandeis Men’s Club of Temple Israel and Jewish Community Center of Ridgewood will lead prayers, read torah, chant haftarah, and deliver the d’var torah at the Shabbat morning services on Saturday, March 21 at 9 a.m. Past Men’s Club presidents will be honored with aliyot. This event is in conjunction with the National Federation of Jewish Men’s Club annual observance on Shabbat Bill Kay to be honored at breakfast HaChodesh. Each year on this special Shabbat, the men’s clubs of Conservative synagogues throughout the United States observe this day and lead Shabbat services.
