Vicki Kirlick, licensed and certified personal chef, will offer tips and advice to help the “sandwich” generation deal with nutritional issues. This free 90-minute program will be held on March 5 at 7 p.m. at The Valley Hospital Conference Center, 223 North Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood. Space is limited. Job search workshop offered The Ridgewood Library will offer a workshop on Effective Job Search Methods on Thursday, March 5 at 7: p.m. in the library’s Belcher Auditorium. Admission is free. Career management specialist Elese Tonelli will conduct the workshop, which will focus on the use of networking sites like LinkedIn and other effective networking strategies, tools, and techniques. Tonelli is a principal with Premier Resume and Career Services and has over 12 years of experience working with executives and managers on all aspects of their job search. She holds a BS in economics from the Wharton School of Business and spent over 10 years in corporate finance with a major Wall Street Bank. Register for Sport Squirts The Ridgewood Recreation Division has invited US Sports Institute to provide Sport Squirts for children ages three through five. This program is designed to introduce children to a variety of sports in a safe, structured environment. All games and activities promote hand/eye coordination, balance, agility and movement. In addition to learning basketball, softball, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer, participants will develop social interaction and communication skills, and most of all have fun. One hour sessions are offered in the morning or afternoon on Wednesdays beginning May 6. Choose between 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., or 1 to 2 p.m. The six week session will run through June 10. The cost is $ 140 per child and all equipment will be provided by U.S. Sports Institute. Preschool instruction offered Classes for children ages three through five will be offered by the recreation division of the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department. Dance will be offered with certified dance instructor Marisa Catena. Young children learn the basic concepts of jazz and ballet, and explore creative movement. The session will be offered on Monday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., beginning March 9. The participant fee is $60 for a six-week session. Comfortable clothing and soft shoes are recommended. KidzArt, continues with a new session of projects to prepare preschoolers to understand different medias, improve reading readiness, tune-up fine motor coordination, and just have fun while learning to draw. The session will be held on Wednesdays, 1 to 2 pm, beginning March 11. The five week session cost is $95 which includes all materials. OLMC MOMS group hosts speakers Kathleen Biello, a noted speaker and MOMS member, will give a presentation on ways to simplify women’s lives in today’s busy society on Wednesday, March 4. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the OLMC Parish Center, 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood, and coffee and refreshments will be available. On Wednesday, April 1, Dr. Lawrence Rosen, a leading expert and practitioner in “Green Pediatrics,” will present ways to keep children healthy and safe medically and via environmental changes. The meeting will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the OLMC Parish Center. Dr. Rosen is on the staff of The Whole Child Center, one of the first green pediatric offices in the United States. He is also the chief Pediatric Integrative Medicine at Hack- ensack University Medical Center, a medical adviser for the Deidre Imus Environmental Center, and on the medical staff of the department of pediatrics at Valley Hospital. Dr. Rosen has co-edited several books and articles on the subject of green pediatrics, and appeared on various television shows as a resource on the subject. Both presentations are sponsored by the OLMC MOMS group. OLMC MOMS is a non-ecumenical group of women of all ages who strive to make spirituality the center of their family life through supporting, ministering to, and learning from each other.
