Ridgewood June 24, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 9 Police halt house party, investigate thefts A Ridgewood Police Department patrol responded to the complaint of house party and charged a 19-year-old woman with making real property available for minors to consume alcohol. The patrol, led by Sergeant Peter Bolten, determined that alcohol was being served to minors and that a small amount of marijuana was present when they investigated the complaint on June 6. A male juvenile at the party was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The woman hosting the party faces a date in municipal court. The juvenile must appear in Family Court in Hackensack. In an unrelated incident, an 18-year-old Midland Park man who failed to stop at the intersection of North Broad Street and East Ridgewood Avenue was arrested by Patrolman John Chuck and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop, reckless driving, failure to exhibit paper work, and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. An appearance is pending in Ridgewood Municipal Court. Valley Hospital was the scene of two reported thefts during the second week in June as residents from Hillsdale and Westwood said they had valuables stolen while they were at the hospital. On June 9, a Hillsdale woman reported that, while she was a patient at Valley Hospital, an unknown person stole jewelry she had with her when she entered the emergency room. On June 14, a Westwood man reported that while he was a patient at Valley, an unknown person took credit cards from his wallet. The Westwood man was unaware of the loss of the credit cards until he was contacted about numerous fraudulent charges. Both thefts are under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
