Church, 905 South Maple Avenue. Seniors plan summer trips The Glen Rock Senior Citizens Club will host a trip to the Platzl Brauhaus Senior Festival on Wednesday, July 15. Activities will include dancing, bocce, bingo, mini golf, swimming, cards, and more. Breakfast, a buffet lunch, and a sit down dinner are included. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the seniors will travel to Woodloch Pines. The day’s activities will include a boat ride, entertainment, bingo, continental breakfast, and a family style lunch of roast beef, fried shrimp, apple pie, coffee, and tea. Studio stars program offered Glen Rock Community School is offering a three week summer program for children ages eight through 16 to experience the workings of an onstage performance. The program will allow each participant to develop stage presence, understand stage directions, scene development, mime, dialogue delivery, character development and reinforce self-esteem. Program directors are Ron Onorato and Carmen Boscia. Sessions will be held daily in the Glen Rock High School auditorium from 9 a.m. to noon from June 29 through July 17, with no session on July 3. The final session is the culmination of the previous sessions with an onstage performance July 17. Early registration is recommended. Space in the spotlight is limited. Call (201) 389-5011. Cookbook fundraiser benefits school Hamilton Elementary School has produced a cookbook called “Flavors of Hamilton.” This cookbook is available at Sasha’s Hair and Nail Designs, Books, Bytes & Beyond, and Rocca’s Market. Activities Club holds annual picnic The Activities Club will hold its annual picnic in the pavilion at the Glen Rock Pool on Wednesday, June 17 at noon. The picnic will be catered by Kleins of Saddle Brook with music provided by Stan Feldman and Charlie Flynn. Members and their wives and guests are invited to attend. The cost is $24 per person. The Activities Club is a group of retired and semiretired men from Glen Rock and the surrounding communities. Club members are involved in various activities and volunteer projects. Senior Citizen Advisory to meet The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee of Glen Rock will meet on Tuesday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the municipal quarters located behind the CVS Pharmacy at 175 Rock Road. Maine trip planned The Glen Rock Community School is hosting a trip to Boothbay Harbor Maine Sept. 11 through 14. The trip includes three nights at the Sprucewold Lodge, a welcome champagne punch, three buffet breakfasts, Maine coast dinner at the lodge (featuring lobster, salmon, chicken or steak), a cruise along Maine’s picturesque coast, a day of sightseeing, and knowledgeable escorts for the entire trip. Prices are $549 per person, double occupancy; $609 per person, single occupancy; $529 per person triple occupancy. A $100 non-refundable deposit will reserve hold a spot. People just whip out their projects, (crochet too) and attract other people to discuss projects, yarn and yarn sources. Formal instruction and help with projects with experienced knitters are held every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. and every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Take advantage of the company, experience, be stimulated to try a new project. Beginners are welcome. Library offers reusable tote bags The Glen Rock Public Library is offering reusable library tote bags at the circulation desk for $2 each. Patrons can now protect borrowed items from snow and rain with reusable library totes. The library is joining the Green Up Glen Rock movement by making these bags available to patrons. The library has long been promoting recycling by allowing patrons to reuse books, recorded books, music, and videos. Some items have been borrowed more than 100 times. They are now expanding the green effort by allowing patrons to recycle by using library totes. The library will no longer supply plastic bags. Reusable totes will be the only option.
