The seniors have planned a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration, “The Wearing of the Green,” at the Brownstone on March 13 at 11 a.m. There will be lunch and entertainment. Trips are open to non-members. ‘Fame’ comes to GRHS Glen Rock High School will present “Fame” on Feb. 5, 6, and 7 at 8 p.m. This musical production follows a group of star struck students in New York’s School for the Performing Arts. From auditions to graduation, share their dreams and disappointments in the quest for success. Directors Ann Comarato and Carl Helder are joined by a talented group of cast, crew, and musicians. Tickets will be sold at the Glen Rock High School at the Hamilton entrance on from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 27, 28, Feb. 3, and 4. The box office in the high school lobby will open at 7:15 p.m. Financial workshops continue The second of the Glen Rock’s Library’s financial workshop series “Moving from a Consumerist Lifestyle to One More Sustainable and Meaningful” will be held on Jan. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. This free public workshop on living well on less is one of six in the Families Responding to Financial Change series. A panel on Tuesday, Feb. 3, will address “Trustworthy Resources for Credit Repair, Bankruptcy and Foreclosure Prevention.” The panel will include David Edelberg, Esq., a trustee of the Bergen County Bar Association, a representative from the Fair Housing Council, “211,” and a representative from a non-profit consumer credit counseling service. Numerous non-profit, governmental and educational organizations have teamed up to present these timely workshops, including The SOURCE, the Glen Rock Public Library, the Interfaith Religious Leaders of Ridgewood, the Community Resource Council, Bergen County’s United Way, Bergen Community College Continuing Education, the Bergen One-Stop Career Center, the Bergen Workforce Investment Board, the Valley Hospital, and West Bergen Mental Healthcare. Nursery School holds registration Registration for 2009-10 is now open at the Glen Rock Jewish Center Nursery School. This state licensed preschool offers classes for two-, three-, and four-year-olds, Kindergarten Enrichment, Mommy and Me, and Summer Day Camp. Certified teachers offer a wide range of age appropriate hands-on activities with an emphasis on self expression, individuality, and creativity. Professionally taught weekly classes in yoga and music are part of the curriculum for all age groups and three- and four-yearolds go on at least two field trips a year. Other activities include cooking, creative dramatics, nature and the environment, puppetry, experiential science, etc. Flexibility in scheduling is available. Parents are encouraged to create a nursery school schedule that works best to fit the needs of their family. The school is open from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., offering half and full day programs, with before and after care available daily. All classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Students hail from Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Fairlawn, Wyckoff, Midland Park, Mahwah, Ramsey, Hawthorne, and other local towns.
