Team earns top awards in regional DECA Contest
Ridgewood High School recently earned three top honors in the New Jersey DECA Regional Marketing Leadership Conference at the County College of Morris. The team is coached by Karen Seavers. RHS Junior Kelsey BaRoss designed the logo selected for use on the New Jersey DECA State Conference T-shirt. BaRoss is a student in Paul Cronk’s advertising class. The logo will also be made into a pin, which contestants will trade with contestants from other states at the International Career Development Conference. Charlie Gundeck and Tyler Welence won first place overall in role play in the business law ethics and management team. William Floyd won first place in role play and third place overall in accounting applications. Ridgewood also accounted for some second place and third place wins in the regional contest. Kristina Malinky took second place on role play, and ninth place overall, in apparel and accessories. Jeremy Edleberg took second place in the written test, seventh place overall; and Kevin Seavers took second place in the written test and fifth place overall in food marketing. Jess Burnside and Milena Loren took third place in role play, seventh place overall, in buying and merchandising management.
