The two assailants, one 31 and the other 24, were charged with one count of kidnapping, a first-degree crime; one count of robbery, a second-degree crime; one count of burglary, a third-degree crime; one count of terroristic threats, a third degree crime; and one count of criminal restraint, a third-degree crime. They were lodged in the Bergen County Jail with bail set at $500,000 cash – due in part to the nature of the crime, and in part to the fact that they crossed state lines during Officers honored the abduction. Ridgewood Police report that bail is now set at $400,000, and both men are still in jail. Ridgewood officers who were honored with the Exceptional Duty Medal included Detective William Hemmer and Detective Douglas Henky. Allendale officers were Sergeant Joseph Carey, Patrolman Terrence Lawler, and Detective John Mattiace. Officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation were Detective Sergeant John Fisher and Detective Robert Farulla.
