Downtown for the Holidays
All is in readiness for the start of Ridgewood’s Downtown for the Holidays festivities on Friday, Dec. 4. New for 2009, seven different musical acts performing holiday songs, along with two stage productions from Chestnut to Walnut streets from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Shoppers can stroll East Ridgewood Avenue and enjoy hot cider and sweet treats served by Care One helpers. Stores will remain open till 9 p.m. From 6:50 to 9 p.m. the festivities will center on the stage in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square right next to the holiday tree. Starting the count down to the Tree Lighting will be The Ridgewood Singers on stage with holiday songs, the Color Guard with a flag salute, Arthur Murray Holiday Dance, Porch Light Production, From the Top Studio, Art of Motion, and the official greeting from the president of Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce. Tom Hillmann will light the Christmas tree, and the entertainers will be back on stage for audience participation with holiday singing. Music will continue on the stage and along East Ridgewood Avenue. Hungry merrymakers can visit the restaurants for dinner, dessert and spirit of the holiday.
