She is survived by her husband Donald Barney, her children Donald W. Barney Jr., Allison White, Kerry Eckert, Mark Barney, and Kathleen Butler, 16 grandchildren, and her siblings Fordham, William, and James. She was predeceased her brother Robert Hanf. Frances Alice Cleopatra Edwards of Ridgewood died Nov. 21. She was 51. She is survived by her husband Joseph Alvaro, her children Caitlin, Bennett, and Riley Alvaro, her mother Dorothy Edwards, and her siblings Esther Nelson, Correne Daniel, Burt Edwards, and Leasa Sampson. Haddock, formerly of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, died Nov. 24. He was 89. His was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a retired postmaster having worked in Midland Park and Fair Lawn. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, both Diane C. Barney in Midland Park. He is survived by his children John Haddock of Sarasota, Florida, Nancy Lichtenberg of Rockaway and Karen Hofman of Easton, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren. He served as president of the Glen Rock Jaycees, coached youth baseball and soccer, and was a member of the Sorin Society for alumni of University of Notre Dame. He is survived by his wife Vicki (nee Rodgers), his children Matt Peluse and Angie Peluse, his mother Rose Peluse, and his brothers Bob Peluse and Jack Peluse. She was an interior decorator with Windsor Interiors in Ridgewood. She was a chartered member of the Ridgewood Woman’s Club, a member of the board of directors of the Social Service Club of Ridgewood, a founder of Meals on Wheels, and was active in various charitable organizations in Ridgewood. She was the last surviving member of the Ridgewood High School Class of 1927. She is survived by her nephew Thomas Hartnett of Ridgewood and a great nephew James Chao Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts. She is survived by her children Sandra Mc Williams of Monroe, New York, and Bruce Swarts of Ringwood, four grandchildren, and her siblings James Ostrander of Arizona, Walter Ostrander of Ohio, Helen Ellis of Ohio, and Betty Ross. In his early years growing up in Paterson, he sold fruits and vegetables off the back of a horse drawn wagon. Later he operated a thriving butcher shop and grocery store on Park Avenue in Paterson. He and his two sons operated Van Dyk Manor in Ridgewood for the past 56 years. He was a member of the Hawthorne Gospel Church where he had served as chairman of the church board. He is survived by his sons Marvin of Franklin Lakes and William of West Hebron, New York, seven grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Amoniza “Teenie” Van Dyk and his second wife Evelyn Deinum Van Dyk. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff.
