He had been an operations manager for Hudson Bus Company for 43 years. He was a volunteer with Ridgewood Baseball and Biddy Basketball leagues. He is survived by his wife Ellen (nee Abrams), his children Marci D’Andrea, Mike and Rick, seven grandchildren, and his brothers John and Joseph. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Marilynn Murphy. William Andrew Cessario of Naples, Florida, formerly of Glen Rock, died July 27. He was 91. He had been employed in the paperboard business before retiring. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 145, which he served as commander from 1974 to 1975. He was instrumental in starting G.R.E.E.N. recycling in Glen Rock. He is survived by his wife Rose (nee Alterisio), his children Denise Messiner, Dr. Alison Cessario, Renee DiCarlo, and Janine Berlin, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and seven siblings. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. at Saint Catharine Roman Catholic Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock. Before retiring in 2008 from a career in banking, she had been worked at Cooperative Savings and Loan, Carteret Savings and Loan, Chase Manhattan Bank, Ridgewood Savings Bank and most recently Boiling Springs Savings Bank. She is survived by her husband Jerome Congleton, her children John J. Congleton of Westwood and Douglas J. Congleton of Pompton Lakes, and her sisters Orgene Stampli of Dubuque, Iowa, Gloria L. Hinpz of Norfolk, Nebraska, Dorothea Wolff of Fullerton, California, and Mary Louise Clifton of Littleton, Colorado. A memorial service will be held in October at Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood. Dorothea Masterson Davis of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, formerly of Ridgewood, died Aug. 9. She was 92. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Ridgewood, she was active in the Catholic Daughters and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a volunteer at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She is survived by her children Virginia Wissel of Saint Augustine, Florida, Diane Polhemus of Stuart, Florida, Nancy Tooley of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Dorothy Rocks of Jenson Beach, Florida and James Davis of Ridgewood, 17 grandchildren, and 16 great Edward Capitani grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James B. Davis, her son, Richard J. Davis, and her siblings Peter and Robert Masterson, Margaret Lawrence and Constance Clark. Arrangements were made by C.C. Before retiring in 1987, he was an assistant manager with Bank of Nova Scotia, New York, New York. He was a member of the West Side Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. He was survived by his wife Jennifer (nee Chaikowsky), his children Stephen Friars of Chester, Gary Friars of Midland Park and Gail Sinnott of Millington, and six grandchildren. He was president of Kersting Brown & Co. of New York City. He served on the board of Christian A. Johnson Foundation in New York City and was an officer of the American Association of Fund Raising Council and American Association of Aging Research. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Doris “Dee” Kersting, his children Mark of New Jersey, Matthew of Texas and Leslie Mulcahy of Massachusetts, three grandchildren and his sister Mary Barbara MacLean of Florida. Udham Boparai “Ed” Singh of Ridgewood died Aug. 12. He was 81. He had a long career in the computer industry, starting out in IBM, continuing at ITT in Framingham, Massachusetts, ILO (International Labor Organization) under the United Nations, and the City of New York as director of computer systems where he worked until his retirement in 1996. He is survived by his wife Inara of Ridgewood, his children Silvija Singh of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sonia Quilliam of Menlo Park, California, Ingrid Podias of Caldwell, and Amar Paul Singh of Yonkers, New York, and seven granddaughters. One of the key figures in the development of the solid-body electric guitar, he helped transform the way sound is recorded via innovations such as multi-tracking, reverb and closemiking. He had a string of pop hits in the ‘50s. He is the only person to have been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Arlene Petrullo of Midland Park, formerly of Ridgewood, died Aug. 8. She was 71. She was a homemaker and a member of the Midland Park United Methodist Church in Midland Park. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Placier of Midland Park, her aunt Helen Jaskow, and her cousins Diana Selleck, Carol Shea, and Fred Geszczynski. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had been a chemistry and physics teacher at Hawthorne High School where he was also the head baseball coach, the principal at Glen Rock High School and principal of Gloversville High School in Gloverville, New York. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s RC Church in Hawthorne, a trustee for the Glen Rock Library Association, a United Way volunteer, and a member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the New Jersey Education Association. He is survived by his children Edward P. Turco Jr. of Chatham and Madelaine A. Dion of Glen Rock, two grandchildren, and his sister Ida Decina of Brooklyn, New York. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly Turco (nee Pearson).
