She was a learning disabilities specialist for the Mahwah Board of Education for 16 years. De Hooge, her children Edward J. De Hooge of Saddle Brook and Patricia Montero of Costa Rica, two grandchildren, and her sister Maureen Coleman of Windsor, Connecticut. She had been employed by Earthly Pleasures Group of Ho-Ho-Kus. She developed an Amway distributorship in Ridgewood and early in her career worked as an interior decorator at J.L. Hudson Co. of Detroit. She was a member of the Ridgewood Christian Science Church, a Girl Scout leader with the Girl Scout Council of Bergen County, and a Daughter of the American Revolution. She supported the Children of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Genealogical Society, Gamma Phi Beta, Ridgewood College Club, Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Project Pride, Japanese American Society of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Embroiderers Guild, and voter registrar at Willard School. She is survived by her husband Howard, her children Mark Howard DeHaven of Washingtonville, New York, Joan DeHaven Sturmer of Lake Ann, Michigan, and Bruce Jonathan DeHaven of Traverse City, Michigan, and six grandchildren. William Edward Kuipers Jr. of Wellington, Florida, formerly of Ridgewood, died Aug. 1. He was 78. He was a U.S. Army veteran. After a career with IBM, he joined the family business, Haband Company, as principal and director. He was on the vestry of Saint Elizabeth’s Episco- Carol Baldino Barbarann De Hooge pal Church in Ridgewood. He served as Scout Master for Troop 7 in Ridgewood. He was on the board of the YWCA in Ridgewood. He supported numerous worthy charitable organizations in New Jersey and Florida including the Valley Hospital Foundation. He was a former member of Arcola Country Club in Paramus and Palm Beach Polo Golf and Country in Wellington, Florida. He was a member of the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Florida and The Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Sapphire, North Carolina. He was a member of Saint Peter’s United Methodist Church in Wellington, Florida. He is survived by his wife Amanda Holloway Kuipers, his children William Kuipers III of Haskell, John Kuipers of Jupiter, Florida, and Marie Shepard of Beulah, Michigan, and three grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion Post #170 in Rochelle Park and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughter Kathi Healy of Wyckoff and his sister Kathleen Wagner of Texas. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps and Air Force veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Before retiring in 1981, he was an executive for IBM for 37 years. He volunteered at the Center for Food Action, and was a member of the Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale and other community organizations. He is survived by his wife Maryellen (Santoro) Meehan, his children Jeffrey of Royersford, Pennsylvania, Michael of Berlin, Donna of Bedminster, and Moira and Helen both of Allendale.
