Ridgewood August 5, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 Bolger to bloggers: Get ready to meet me in court by John Koster Ridgewood Philanthropist David Bolger has told bloggers whom he says circulated a memo about him that was “blatantly misleading, false, possibly libelous and potentially damaging to his reputation” that they should get ready to face his attorneys in court. “I am putting you on notice, and I will seek legal redress for such damages if you do not cease and desist with the circulation of this memorandum, or any revised version thereof,” Bolger wrote to bloggers Suzanne Kelly and Marcia Ringel, the co-chairs of the Preserve Graydon Coalition. “In order to seek full recovery of damages if need be, I now require that you preserve and post all existing records of the Preserve Graydon Coalition and any parties thereof. I also urge you not to destroy any financial documents, records, or any pertinent subject matter that may be used in seeking full recovery of damages from all parties involved.” Bolger sent copies of this notice to Rigewood Mayor David Pfund and interim Village Manager Heather Mailander. Bolger said the Preserve Graydon Coalition made several statements about him that were false and possibly libelous. “It has been belatedly revealed that one force behind this project is David Bolger,” the blog states. “For a shocking revelation of what he envisions as a high-priced concrete complex incorporating/appropriating our Stable, with fees more than double to start, we urge you to read his four-page letter tacked to the latest RPP (Ridgewood Pool Project) design displayed on an easel in the lobby of the Ridgewood Public Library. Our beloved pool will surely be co-opted by this village developer/philanthropist unless we act now.” The blog also asserts that Bolger has an unwarranted influence over the Ridgewood Village Council. Mailander said Bolger had not become involved in the Ridgewood Pool Project until recently, and cannot, in any sense, be considered the instigator of a plan for a multi-pool complex. Bolger did a study of an existing plan when it had already been drafted and said he felt it was financially viable. He has not pledged any money to the project and is not financially involved. Bolger told Ridgewood/Villadom Times that he was tired of being attacked every time he tried to do something good for Ridgewood and that the matter was now in the hands of his lawyers. Bolger put up the money that saved the Lester Stable and turned it into the headquarters of Ridgewood (continued on page 23) Three new police ofﬁcers recently took the oath in Ridgewood.
