Glen Rock August 5, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 5 Yaw Paw Camp Foundation donates to DARE The Yaw Paw Camp Foundation of Ridgewood and Glen Rock recently donated $3,500 to the Glen Rock DARE Program, which educates youngsters about the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse. Robert Saydah, a Glen Rock resident and a trustee of the Yaw Paw Camp Foundation, presented the check to Patrolman Matthew Stanislao of the Glen Rock Police Department, which offers the program in the Glen Rock schools. Patrolman Stanislao and Mayor John van Keuren and the council thanked Saydah for the donation in support of the program. The council also approved the permanent appointment of Patrolman Robert Surdyka as a Glen Rock police officer, who has completed his one-year probation period, and the appointment of Lucas Miehe to the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department. The Glen Rock Jewish Center will host its Eighth Annual Barbecue and Erev Shabbat service on Friday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. with services at 8 p.m. The event will be held at 739 Harristown Road. GRJC welcomes all members of the larger community to join in on an exciting trip to Israel in February 2010. Featured will be archaeology, wine tasting, mystical Tzfat and Shabbat in Jerusalem.
