Group to discuss Tropper novel The Glen Rock Library’s The Tea and Book Talk at Two meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. The next meeting will be Aug. 18. “How to Talk to a Widower” by Jonathan Tropper will be the book for discussion. This novel is both heartfelt and riotously funny. The Glen Rock Public Library is located at 315 Rock Road. For more information, call (201) 670-3970. ‘Mikado’ auditions set The Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company is holding auditions for “The Mikado” on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 10 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Auditions for principal roles and chorus members will be held at the Community Church of Glen Rock (one block east of Maple Avenue on Rock Road) in Glen Rock. Performers should be prepared
to sing a song from the show or a piece that best shows their vocal quality. Those who will not be singing a piece from “The Mikado” should bring their own music. An accompanist will be provided. They will meet on Mondays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Glen Rock Library’s quiet meeting room on the first level. Shona Perry, M.A., is leading the summer class. The sessions are informal and emphasize
social aspects of speaking English. A newspaper especially for new English speakers, “Easy English News,” is provided by the library Many of the conversations revolve around its articles. The library is located at 315 Rock Road. Seniors welcome new members The Glen Rock Senior Citizens Club meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the municipal annex. Membership is $5 per year. Members enjoy a full schedule of events, such as meetings, card playing, games, entertainment by speakers and singers, day trips, and more. Call Andy at (201) 444-5498 or attend a club meeting.

Staff members at the Glen Rock Library are being creative this summer in concert with the summer theme: Be Creative at Your Library. Record numbers of people are attending concerts, movies, magic shows, storytimes, art demonstrations, and participating in craft programs, book discussions, scavenger hunts and more.
