All Glen Rock residents are invited to meet from noon to 12:15 p.m. in front of the municipal building to offer prayers for the nation, community, and children. Auxiliary seeks new members The Glen Rock Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary invites new members to its Silver Tea on Monday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Seniors plan trips The Glen Rock Seniors had planned a trip to the Show boat Casino in Atlantic City for Wednesday, May 13. The cost will be $18 per person with the casino giving each senior $20 or $30 back. The bus will leave from Wilde Park at 8 a.m. The casino requires identification. The seniors are planning a day at Monmouth Park Race Track on Wednesday, June 10. The group will meet at 9:45 a.m. at Wilde Park with the motorcoach departing at 10 a.m. The cost is $38 for members and $41 for non-members. The price includes admission to the Turf Club, Parterre Level 1 in the clubhouse and trackside. There will also be a buffet lunch. Jackets are required for men, and no jeans or shorts are permitted. Glen Rock Library news Knitters have been congregating at all hours of the day and night at the Glen Rock Library. People just whip out their projects, (crochet too) and attract other people to discuss projects, yarn and yarn sources. Formal instruction and help with projects with experienced knitters are held Every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. and every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Take advantage of the company, experience, be stimulated to try a new project. Beginners welcome. English as a Second Language courses are growing strong and enthusiastically at the Glen Rock Library. The schedules have been changed. ESL Saturday course is from 10 a.m. to noon. The ESL Tuesday course has been moved to Mondays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. There will be no ESL course on Tuesdays. The Glen Rock Library is located at 315 Rock Road. Senior residents sought The Glen Rock Senior Citizen Advisory Committee is compiling a list of senior citizens who reside in Glen Rock. The committee will use the list to keep the senior constituency updated with current issues. Anyone who is currently a member of the Saint Catharine’s AMPs, the Glen Rock Senior Club, the Fifty Plus Club of the Glen Rock Jewish Center, the Activities Club of Glen Rock, or anyone residing in Glen Courts, does not need to register for the list. Any other Glen Rock senior, age 62 or older, who wishes to receive information can register at the Glen Rock Municipal Office or at the Glen Rock Library. Library offers reusable tote bags The Glen Rock Public Library is offering reusable library tote bags at the circulation desk for $2 each. Patrons can now protect borrowed items from snow and rain with reusable library totes. The library is joining the Green Up Glen Rock movement by making these bags available to patrons. The library has long been promoting recycling by allowing patrons to reuse books, recorded books, music, and videos. Some items have been borrowed more than 100 times. They are now expanding the green effort by allowing patrons to recycle by using library totes. The library will no longer supply plastic bags. Reusable totes will be the only option. Tote bag sales are self-supporting.
