VFW, American Legion hold joint recruiting drive
The members of the Washington Elm Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 192 (Ho-Ho-Kus/Ridgewood) in HoHo-Kus and the American Legion’s Ridgewood Post 53 in Ridgewood will conduct a joint recruiting event, weather permitting, on April 4, 18, and 25. On April 4 and 25, the two groups will be at the HoHo-Kus Post Office from 9 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. On April 18, the groups will be at Daily Treat Restaurant in Ridgewood from 9 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m. Those who have served in the military and were honorably discharged, and those who are currently serving in the U.S. military, are invited to talk with representatives of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars to see if they qualify to join one or both of these non-profit veterans organizations. These two organizations principally cover the municipalities of Ridgewood and Ho-Ho-Kus, Saddle River and Upper Saddle River. Both groups have many common goals and ideals for assisting military personnel and their families, communities, young people, and promoting Americanism and patriotism. The Washington Elm VFW Post 192 with its 89 members is the official Veterans of Foreign Wars Post for the municipalities of Ho-Ho-Kus and Ridgewood since its chartering by the National VFW in 1939. The American Legion’s Ridgewood Post 53 with its 97 members is the official American Legion Post for the Village of Ridgewood since its chartering by the National American Legion in 1946. All military personnel on active duty or honorably discharged veterans unable to attend this joint recruiting event should contact Stanley Kober at (201) 4451121 to see if they qualify to join the National VFW’s local Washington Elm VFW Post 192 or Bob Paoli at (201) 445-1738 to join the National American Legion’s Ridgewood Post 53.

West Side Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 5 at 2 p.m. Families with children through kindergarten age are invited to bring their baskets and participate in the festivities, which will include snacks and drinks, a sing-along with Lynette Parks, a hunt for eggs on the lawn by the Youth Barn, and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. The event is free and open to the public.
West Side plans Easter Egg Hunt
West Side Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community with varied backgrounds, talents and ages, bound together by a common faith in God as revealed in Jesus Christ.
