September 16, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 15 100 The Midland Park Fire Department has marked its 100th anniversary with several activities this year, culminating in a townwide party to be held on Saturday, Sept. 26. The entire community as well as fire departments from the Mutual Aid Association are invited to the Witte Drive Firehouse from 4 to 9 p.m. on that day to help celebrate the occasion. “As chairman of our celebration I am proud of my fellow firefighters and the job we did to make this a truly memorable year full of events and a celebration of joy and dedication,” commented 35-year member Peter Jeffer. “We wanted to have another party for the town at our ‘home’ and also bring together our fellow firefighters from our mutual aid association so we could all celebrate together as one community,” he added. The centennial celebration will include food, soda, beer and live music by Bitter X. “The support from Midland Park has been unbelievable. The mayor and council, the business community and the residents of our town have gone out of their way to express their gratitude to the fire department,” he said. Jeffer said that when the committee started its plans two years ago it was “somewhat hesitant in our plans” because it didn’t know how the various events would be received. “The enthusiasm displayed by the townspeople to us has made all the work worthwhile,” he said. Other activities have included enhancing the Community Day held this past weekend, a golf th ANNIVERSARY Firefighters to celebrate centennial with townwide party outing, a beefsteak dinner, and a reunion of all former volunteers planned for later this fall. T-shirts, mugs, jackets and other memorabilia featuring the centennial logo are available, and the anniversary journal was recently released, featuring a history of the department from its humble beginnings accompanied by vintage photographs. Also included in the journal is a comprehensive update of the last 25 years, honoring past heroes and highlighting their struggles and their contributions to modern-day firefighting advances. s, t! atulation Fire Departmen Congr Park Midland | Hairstyling / Updo’s | Haircuts | Color | Perms | Make-Up | Recession Buster Haircuts were $60.00 15% off any retail item KMS CALIFORNIA PRAVANA AQUAGE $50.00 TERRY WHITE Owner/Stylist now OPEN ON MONDAYS 36 Central Avenue Midland Park 201-652-1222 Email - TanglesHairSalon@MSN.com ester/janine 9-16-09 Hogans3x3(9-16-09) 3 x 3   First Class Elegance at Affordable Prices M  
