Players must be 12 years old as of April 30, 2010. There is a $30 registration fee for the tryouts. Registration and warm-ups will begin at 1:30 p.m. Players must wear their most recent recreation baseball shirt to tryout. Skatepark to host annual fundraiser The Third Annual Run/Walk/Skate for Solid Foundation Skatepark will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12. The race will begin at 10 a.m. and the 5K course runs through the town streets and ends at the skatepark parking lot at445 Godwin Avenue. After the race, all participants, friends, and family are welcome to the skatepark for a barbecue, a professional skateboarding demonstration from 5Boro Skateboards, product giveaways, a moon bounce, a car smash, and more. Financial program offered Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover will be simulcast on Saturday Sept. 19, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street, Midland Park. This event will include a plan for handling money and tools to stay financially focused. Nationally syndicated radio host and bestselling author Dave Ramsey will present this program, which includes energy and humor. Tickets are $25 and include registration and workbooks. Board of education to meet The Midland Park Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the August C. DePreker Media Center in Midland Park High School. Girl Scouts collect food for local pantries Midland Park Girls Scout Troop 145 is hosting a food drive to help stock local food pantries. Residents are asked to drop off a donation at the troop’s table at the town picnic on Sept. 12. Needed items include: juices, juice boxes, school snacks, hot cereal, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and personal care items (including shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap). Blood Drive planned The James family of Midland Park has planned the Fifth Annual Blood Drive in honor of Shayne Jr., for Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Graydon Pool north lot (corner of Linwood Avenue and Northern Parkway) in Ridgewood. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free food and entertainment, including arts and crafts, “tattoos,” Moonwalk, games, goodies, and more. The family has planned a full day to occupy the children as adults donate blood. Baseball Association meeting set The Midland Park Baseball Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Junior Field Snack Bar. All coaches and parents who are interested are welcome and encouraged to attend. Republicans plan meeting The Midland Park Republican Club’s newly elected president, John Meeks, will chair the club’s next meet- ing on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8:15 p.m. in the Midland Park Library.
