Clarke Golf and Tennis Outing” will take place on Monday, Oct. 19 at the Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell. The event is a collaboration of Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Wyckoff Education Foundation and will memorialize former school superintendent Dr. Roger E. Clarke. Throughout his career as a teacher, principal, and superintendant in Wyckoff, Dr. Clarke was committed to the educational welfare of the community’s children. He pioneered many of the curricula and technologies that have benefitted the students over the years. This year, the Wyckoff Y provided scholarships for child care, before and after school care, and summer camp to several hundred families in need, amounting to over $300,000. Proceeds from the upcoming outing will benefit the Y’s children’s programs and scholarship fund, and will help provide a college scholarship to a deserving high school senior. The outing will also support WEF, whose mission is to raise funds for programs, activities, services, and tools of learning that enhance educational excellence in the Wyckoff schools. Contact Nancy Addis at (201) 891-2081, extension 152 for details, registration, and sponsorship opportunities. Together they support Wyckoff’s need for an Open Space Advisory Committee to aid the township committee in identifying areas of open space to protect. They also affirm that we should pursue all available county and state grants to protect open space in Wyckoff. Kevin and Chris have demonstrated their devotion to our town, and will continue to support our neighbors in providing a wonderful community for all of us to work and live in.
