Republican Club hosts meeting Franklin Lakes Republican Club will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Bender Court Fire Department Headquarters. All are invited to attend. The club meets monthly September through May on the second Tuesday at 8 p.m. For more information, visit votefl.net. Leadership expert to speak Neil Cooper, a certified professional coach and energy leadership practitioner, will speak at Franklin Lakes Public Library on DeKorte Drive on Monday, Oct. 19. This 7 p.m. program is entitled “Everyone Is a Leader, Either by Choice or Default.” Learn the basics of leadership, how to of hone leadership skills, and methods to approach leadership with confidence, enthusiasm, and energy. Movie matinees continue The Friday Movie Matinees will continue at Franklin Lakes Public Library on Fridays, Oct. 9 and 30 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Rezvani Community Room. Auxiliary sponsors theater trip The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a theater trip to see “Billy Elliot” on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. The trip will include bus transportation and preferred seating at the Imperial Theater in New York City. Tickets will sell out quickly, so early reservations are recommended. The buses will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the Franklin Lakes Recreation Building. Attendees may enjoy lunch or shopping prior to the performance.

Kelly to address Auxiliary The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host Auxiliary President Sue Kelly on Monday, Oct. 19, at 10:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Rezvani Meeting Room at the Franklin Lakes Library on DeKorte Drive. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Franklin Avenue Middle School. Nazzaro performs Sinatra favorites Jason Nazzaro, an accomplished solo singer and resident of Franklin Lakes, will present Frank Sinatra favorites at the Franklin Lakes Library on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. All are invited to this free concert. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. Central Park jogger to speak Trisha Meili, known to many as the Central Park Jogger, will be the guest speaker at the Woman’s Club of Franklin Lakes’ Fall Fundraiser Luncheon, to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7. This event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes at 10:30 a.m. Meili’s story of survival and recovery was detailed in her best-selling memoir, “I Am the Central Park Jogger: A Story of Hope and Possibility.” There will be a book signing, prizes and a special auction followed by lunch and the speaker. Computer classes offered Franklin Lakes Public Library will offer two basic computer classes on Wednesdays in October. A beginner computer and Internet class will be offered on Oct. 14 and 28 from 11 a.m. to noon. No previous experience is necessary to participate in this class. A basic Microsoft Word class will be offered Oct. 7 from 11a.m. to noon. Participants should have some basic computer skills for this class. Fundraiser donations sought The Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes is seeking donations for it annual Talents and Treasures Fundraiser scheduled for Nov. 1 through 30. Restaurant gift certificates, Christmas and holiday items, original artwork, and jewelry will be among the items offered.
