Services are held every Sunday at 10 a.m. with hospitality following at 11 a.m. The annual candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 24 at 8 p.m. led by the Rev. Vern Dethmers. Celebration to begin with Menorah Lighting The annual Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Celebration at Wyckoff Town Hall will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. This year, the nine-foot menorah will be made entirely of chocolate Chanukah gelt. Five of those coins will contain a winning ticket hidden under the golden foil. Winners will receive passes to Hershey Park. This free celebration is sponsored by Chabad of NW Bergen County and is open to the entire community and residents of neighboring towns. In addition to the Menorah Lighting, those who attend will be able to watch a chocolate sculptor at work; mold their own chocolate dreidels; and enjoy low-giveaways, freshly brewed hot-chocolate and refreshments, and a performance by the Beth Rishon Children’s Choir, all in a super-sized heated tent. Contemporary Mass scheduled Saint Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff will host a contemporary Mass for teens, college students, and young adults on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. This month’s service will be celebrated by Bishop Felesy. The Mass will be followed by Café 700 located downstairs in the church’s Saint John Bosco room. Café 700 is a coffee-house atmosphere offering the opportunity for young people to listen to music, meet friends, have dessert, and play pool and ping-pong. For more information call (201) 891-1122 extension 222. ‘Fairs of Christmas Past’ set “Fairs of Christmas Past” is the theme for the 45th Annual Christmas Fair to be held by Grace United Methodist Church, Friday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the church, 555 Russell Avenue (corner of Eder Avenue), Wyckoff. The fair will include festive foods, craft items, bakery goods, baskets of prizes, the General Store, wreaths, handmade knitted items, jewelry, new toys, photographs with Santa, poinsettias, and more. The fair will also include Getting in the spirit Friendship Ministries, based at the Christian Reformed Church of Midland Park, recently filled 32 shoeboxes with gifts for the Christmas Child program. These special students, ages 21 to 60, get together on Thursday evenings for Bible study and activities. The ministry is headed by Geri Vooys with six volunteer teachers. Winners of the prize baskets will be announced at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The church’s Senior High Youth Fellowship will be selling Christmas wreaths. Proceeds will be used to fund a summer mission trip. Participants will learn about the Jewish holidays, and the rituals and traditions meant to be shared with the family. Discussions for Chanukah are scheduled for Dec. 2. The holiday bake table will offer an assortment of wrapped baked goods for the family to enjoy or for gifts. Prize baskets will be available through a special fundraiser. Poinsettias and decorated wreaths will be for sale this year. Christmas elves will be on hand to assist young children with their shopping.
