The Toys for Tots Train will be making a stop in Wyckoff on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 1 to 2 p.m. On board the special train will be members of the Marine Corps and Santa Claus, who will stop at 399 Main Street to collect gifts for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation is to collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children. Toys for Tots gets boost
Department are asking for residents to help with this worthy cause. From now through the first two weeks of December, new, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at any of the town’s three fire companies: Protection Fire Company #1, 1 Scott Plaza; Community Engine Company #2, 180 Wyckoff Avenue; and Sicomac Engine Company #3, 428 Sicomac Avenue. Gifts may also be dropped off any Monday evening from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. any of the fire companies. All gifts collected will be brought to the Main Street train station for pick up on Dec. 13. Lions to hold Christmas Tree Sale
The Wyckoff Lions Club’s Annual Christmas Tree Sale will begin on Saturday, Nov. 28 at the lot adjacent to the Getty Gasoline Station across from Boulder Run. For sale will be a large selection of Frazier firs, balsams, Douglas firs and wreaths. The Wyckoff Lions, a service organization, donates to local charities and to the community of Wyckoff. Recent recipients have been The Love Fund of Wyckoff, Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, Guide Dog Foundation, and Camp Marcella, a New Jersey camp for visually impaired children, West Bergen Mental Health and toward scholarships for local students. Sale days are Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The 4’s classes at the Andrew Friedland Preschool at Temple Beth Rishon collected snack items and toiletries for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan to show they are grateful for the soldiers and their service to our country. Children in the school are taught that it’s a mitzvah (good deed) to help others.
