Dear Readers: I cannot even believe that I am writing this letter with Thanksgiving just about two weeks away. The fall season is almost over, and the leaves are piling up all over town. The biggest shopping season of the year is about to hit us full force, with “Black Friday” fast approaching. The main theme of my letters so far has been about what is going on in town with regard to the different shopping centers, construction projects, new businesses coming in, and some old ones no longer being there. I see with sadness some longtime mainstay businesses that are gone or leaving, but am happy to see many new ones coming into town as well, or old ones renovating and upgrading their facilities. Ivy Plaza is now done, and what a gorgeous new look for them. The Boulder Run renovation is also nearing completion. Thanksgiving is the target date. New stores will be joining the existing favorites soon, giving you even more choices right here in town for shopping and dining. Change is inevitable, especially in the current economy, and the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce has made it our mission to promote and grow the business community here in Wyckoff. A strong downtown shopping district is a big part of making our town a desirable place to live and work, and helps keep the property values higher, while giving the township ratable properties to offset property taxes somewhat. The business community needs the residents to continue to support us by shopping in town, close to home, in a friendly atmosphere with people you know and can trust. Without such support, businesses will be forced to move out of town, or close up shop, and the highway and the malls will be the only option left. We cannot -- and will not -- let that happen here in Wyckoff. We have everything you could possibly need available right here in town. There are over 140 Chamber members who are committed to serving this community because we live and work here, and know the value of personalized service and a fair price. Please shop Wyckoff first this holiday season, and you won’t be disappointed. Thank you, once again, for reading. Support your local merchants every chance you get, so they can continue to be here to serve you in the future. Please check us out on the web at www.wyckoffchamber.com. Sincerely, Matt Brogowski, President Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce
