Glenn Jacobsen, CLP, a 24-year resident of Allendale and founder and CEO of Jacobsen Landscape Design & Construction, Inc. in Midland Park, has received one of eight 2009 Leadership Awards presented by Lawn & Landscape magazine, the leading publication of the “green industry.” Jacobsen received his award on Oct. 30 in Louisville, Kentucky during the national Green Industry Conference. He was recognized for his leadership and commitment to giving back to the community, to the green industry and to the multitude of churches and ministries in the region. He has been active in PLANET, the professional land care network, for over 15 years in various capacities. He is a trailblazer for the organization, mentoring other companies nationwide, and Glenn Jacobsen earns 2009 Leadership Award currently serves on several committees. He and his wife Melissa are ambassadors of AEF, the Academic Excellence Foundation of PLANET, having donated $25,000 to the fund for student scholarships. He has hosted internship programs at Jacobsen Landscape for students from SUNY Cobleskill and Penn State University for over 10 years, and has hosted students in the landscape programs at Ramapo and Indian Hills high schools. He has been an advisory board member for the Bergen Community College Horticulture Program for many years. He currently serves as a board member for Star of Hope Ministries in Paterson.
