Voters endorse Republican council candidates
Midland Park voters endorsed the two incumbent Republican council candidates in last week’s election. Bernard Holst and Scott Pruiksma, who ran unchallenged, received 1,632 ballots and 1.616 ballots, respectively. When the council reorganizes in January, Holst will be beginning his fifth term, and Pruiksma will be entering his third full term on the council, having also served a one-year unexpired term. Holst is president of Horizon Termite and Pest Control, a local company he founded in 1970. He is a 35-year member and past president of the Midland Park Lions Club, and is treasurer and past president of the New Jersey Pest Management Association and a past president of the National Pest Management Association. Pruiksma is president of Inter Locking Arms LLC, a community building organization; a member of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department, and vice president of the Oakland Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Firefighters. He is currently attending Hawthorne Evening Bible School. A 15-year resident, he has three children.
