Obituaries
Alice L. Conklin, nee Redyke, of Midland Park and Wyckoff, died May 5. She was 79. Before retiring, she was a secretary for an accounting firm in Totowa. She was a member of the Midland Park United Methodist Church in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Carol Conklin of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, Bonnie Longendyke of North Fort Meyers, Florida, and Edward N. Conklin Jr. of West Milford, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edward N. Conklin Sr., and her brother Henry Redyke. Arrangements were made by Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Chilton Memorial Hospital Foundation, West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ. William J. Duane Jr. of Wyckoff died May 6. Before retiring, he was senior vice president and general auditor of Chemical Bank, and had been a manager at Arthur Andersen and general auditor at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. After retiring, he formed the consulting firm Rockchapel Associates, was a senior advisor to Price Waterhouse, and served as a consultant to the board of the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan. He was a member of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians. He served as past chairman of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He was active in the American Institute of CPAs, the New York State Society of CPAs, the American Bankers Association, the Bank Administration Institute, the Treadway National Commission on Fraudulent Financial Reporting, and the advisory boards of the business schools of Louisiana State University and Manhattan College. He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s Church, and served on the Visiting Nurses of Northern Bergen County Advisory Board, the Valley Hospital Hospice Committee, and the Township of Wyckoff Environmental Commission. He is survived by his wife Maureen, his children Bill and Brenda, and his siblings Margaret, Joan, Tom, and Louis. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. He was an U.S. Army National Guard veteran. Before retiring, he was an auto salesman for Brogan Cadillac of Ridgewood for 25 years. He was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, serving as a deacon and elder over the last 40 years. He is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Vander Zee) of Midland Park, his children Susan L. Murphy of Wyckoff, Jason J. of Bristow, Virginia, and Michael P. of Hasbrouck Heights, eight grandchilden, and his sister Lillian Lomauro of Toms River. Mulliken, nee Kempton, of Mahwah, formerly of Tenafly and Alpine, died May 3. She had been a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines in the 1950s. She was a volunteer at Englewood Hospital. She had served as secretary of the Republican Club, Recreation Committee Chairperson, president of the Home and School Association, and Arts and Crafts chairperson all in Alpine. She volunteered at Travelers Aid in Florida. She is survived by her children Ron, Chris, Nancy Malleo, and John, 10 grandchildren, and her siblings Kay Wooge and Jack Kempton. Arrangements were made by Barrett Funeral Home. Shirley J. Simpson, nee Sloan, of Mahwah, formerly of Hawthorne, died May 6. She was 81. She had worked as a secretary at Seaboard Industries in Hawthorne. She is survived by her granddaughter Shelby Viasso of Mahwah, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Sharon Call, and her brother Wesley Sloan. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. Brother Frank Tilton, S.D.B. of the Salesian community of Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey died May 2. He was 82. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He completed his year of novitiate in 1951-1952 in Newton and made his first profession of religious vows on Sept. 8, 1952. He was a physical education teacher at Don Bosco Tech in Paterson. During the next 10 years, he worked in parishes in Birmingham, Alabama, the parishes

and youth centers in Port Chester, New York, and Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York. He was one of the founders of the Salesian ministry in Birmingham. In 1962, he was again teaching in Paterson. After 20 years, he moved to Don Bosco Tech in Boston. He was transferred in 1998 to Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, to serve as the attendance office. He had been a Salesian brother for more than 56 years. He retired in 2007. He is survived by his sister Patricia Sinibaldi of Gorham, New Hampshire, his niece Donna Moulton, and his nephews Patrick Sinabaldi, Michael Tilton, Gary Tilton, and Father Daniel Sinibaldi, who is pastor of Saint Joseph’s Church in Woodsville, New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Donald. Arrangements were made by Van EmburghSneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Thomas H. Trumbour of Warwick, New York, formerly of Wyckoff, died May 2. He was 75. He was a small businessman and owned his own companies in Hackensack and Hawthorne. He is survived by his wife Diane (nee Amatuzzi) Trumbour, his children Lisa Surplus of Hawthorne, Nancy Delaney of Warwick, New York, and Michele Marano of Paterson, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary, and his sister Margaret Greer. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Before retiring, he was director of medical facilities expansion at American Cyanamid in Pearl River, New York where he worked for 39 years. He holds a U.S. patent for chemical processing equipment. He was a retired member of the Bound Brook Fire Company #3. He was a member of the Bound Brook Zoning Board and past president of the Midland Park Planning Board. He is survived by his wife Audrey, his sons Joseph of Toms River, Frank of Toms River, Thomas of Clifton, and John of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren, and his siblings Camille Ross and Donald.
