Temple Beth Rishon’s annual Marvin Gastman Memorial concert will feature The Western Wind, an internationally acclaimed vocal sextet, who will perform “The Passover Story,” a musical program that combines narration and song to illuminate the Passover themes of freedom and redemption on Friday, March 27. The concert will follow the 7 p.m. Shabbat service at which the sextet will assist Cantor Ilan Mamber and the temple’s youth and adult choirs. Following the structure provided by the Haggadah (the compendium of prayers and lore that guides the Passover ritual meal), the program will include music from the Babylonian and Spanish traditions, Yiddish and Hebrew folk melodies in unique arrangements; music from the 19th century by Lewandowski; and contemporary Israeli and American music by Braun, Helfman, and Levine. ing objects from a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without a license. In an unrelated case, a man arrested for drunk driving after he was stopped for speeding on Goffle Road on March 7 was also charged with providing false information to implicate another person and providing false information to hinder his own apprehension when he impersonated his own brother. The 25-year-old driver from Valhalla, New York, was not carrying identification at the time of his arrest at 1:04 a.m. When his father arrived to drive him home, the surprised father cleared up the identity issue. The complaints against the driver were compounded by the false identity attempt. The case will be heard in Bergen County Superior Court. In another arrest, an 18-year-old Franklin Lakes man was apprehended with two 18-year-old Wyckoff women and a marijuana pipe and marijuana in the wooded area near Maple Lake, which police say is frequented by people using narcotics and drinking when underage.
