Farrell, a graduate of the University of Southern California, holds a bachelor of fine arts degree. Her areas of study include drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry making, etching, print making, sculpting, calligraphy, book-binding, crewel needlework, macramé, cake-decorating, and a variety of crafts. Prostate cancer support group to meet LifeLines, a supportive and informative resource for prostate cancer patients and their partners in Northern Bergen County, will meet Tuesday, March 24 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. The group was formed by prostate cancer patients to share information and experience about available treatment and service resources. Adorno Fathers plan Lenten dinner The Adorno Fathers will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on March 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 575 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. The menu will include clam and marinara sauces, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Music will be provided by the priests and brothers. Proceeds will benefit the Adorno Fathers Seminary in Ramsey. College Club hosts post-apartheid speaker Barbara Rick, veteran documentary producer, will be guest speaker at the College Club’s monthly meeting on April 7 at 1 p.m. at the Ridgewood Public Library. Rick is a recipient of the Peabody and Emmy Awards and has won numerous honors at festivals around the world. Rick will discuss “Road to Ingwavuma,” which chronicles the journey to the heart of post-apartheid South Africa by leading American music and cinema artists. After viewing this 35-minute piece, Rick will open a discussion on why these artists went to South Africa and discuss the current situation there. The ticket cost for guests is $10. Master Gardeners host speaker Steven Kristop, owner of Steven Kristoph Nurseries, will be the guest speaker at the Master Gardeners of Bergen County’s meeting on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Community Services Building located at 327 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus. The community is welcome to attend the presentation. Kristoph will present “The Folklore of Trees.” He will entertain with some of the more curious, unique and strange legends of trees. Kristoph received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in horticulture from Rutgers University. He has been an adjunct instructor at Rutgers for over 30 years. Bereavement support available The Church of Saint Elizabeth in Wyckoff will offer support groups for individuals who have experienced a loss. Sessions will begin Tuesday, April 14. The groups will meet for eight consecutive Tuesdays. The daytime group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and the evening group from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Both groups will meet in the Amadeus Room on the second floor of the Church’s Religious Education Center. Valley offers program on meningitis The Valley Hospital Community Health Department is offering a free evening education program titled “It’s Artist wins first place Carl Holst of Midland Park recently had two of his paintings accepted into a juried show held at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey. His picture ‘Old Stone Bridge’ won first place for best oil painting. He is a member of the Ridgewood Art Institute Board of Directors and studies with John Osborne. Habitat for Humanity Walk set Wyckoff Reformed Church will host its annual Habitat for Humanity Walk on Saturday April 4. This year, the church will walk in partnership with Saint Clement’s Church in Hawthorne, in order to raise funds to build homes in Paterson. The Wyckoff Reformed Church has participated in this yearly walk from Wyckoff to Paterson for nine years, raising more than $150,000 for the project during that time. Habitat for Humanity relies on donations from surrounding communities to purchase supplies to build houses for deserving families who otherwise would not be able to afford a home of their own. Comedy Night to benefit children On April 2, Bergen County Court Appointed Special Advocates will hold its second annual Comedy Night to benefit the over 450 abused and neglected children from Bergen County. This comedy fundraiser includes a four-course dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Graycliff in Moonachie, followed by headline entertainment with comedians from HBO, Showtime, and Comedy Central. There will also be a spe- cial auction of prizes that range from sports memorabilia to jewelry. Tickets for the event will be $100 each, with all proceeds going directly to assist CASA in the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers from the community.
