Tuesday Night Artists to exhibit The Midland Park Continuing Education announces the eighth fine art exhibit of the “Art of Tuesday Night.” The show is a collection of oil paintings in many styles created by the adult students of the Tuesday evening Midland Park Continuing Education oil painting class, led by Susan Marlett. The public is invited to the opening artist reception to be held on Saturday, June 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Midland Park Public Library. There will be live jazz and other musical performances by local music students. The reception and concert are free and open to the public. The paintings will be on display through the beginning of August 2009. Marlett, a local artist and musician, resides in Waldwick. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design. She has taught oil painting for over eight years for the Midland Park Continuing Education program. Library hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is located at 250 Godwin Avenue, in Midland Park. Board of education to meet The Midland Park Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, June 23 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the high school at 250 Prospect Street. Nativity offers masses for differently-abled The Church of the Nativity in Midland Park will be celebrating monthly Catholic masses for differently-abled people. Upcoming services will be at 9 a.m. on June 21. These masses are specifically for families with members who are differently-abled. Many people who are challenged behaviorally, mentally or physically may have difficulty in traditional Sunday mass environments, so the families are unable to worship together and may avoid mass altogether. These families are welcome to attend these masses and celebrate the Eucharist with other members of the surrounding community. Father’s Day brunch planned The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center located in Midland Park is hosting a Father’s Day Brunch on Friday, June 19 at 11:30 a.m. Juice, western omelet, sausage links, cinnamon apple muffin, and fresh fruit will be served. Helewa will belly dance as lunch is served. All Bergen County seniors are welcome to attend. The cost is a $1.25 donation per person. Reserve by noon on Thursday, June 18. Senior class hosts fundraiser Midland Park High School’s Class of 2010 will host its basket fundraiser on June 20 at Midland Park High School. This tradition takes place the night after graduation and is the major source of income for the next year’s Graduation Ball. Midland Park Lions Club volunteers check out Silky, a seeing eye dog from The Seeing Eye, Inc., during the club’s pancake breakfast. The club is holding a Name the Seeing Eye Dog contest to raise the $5,000 needed to allow for the naming of an animal and provide detailed information as to the progress of the designated dog. The contest winner names the dog. Contest tickets are $1 each. Golf Outing planned The Midland Park High School Baseball Program will be hosting its Fourth Annual Golf Classic on June 29 at the Great Gorge Country Club in Vernon. The cost
is $125 and includes green and cart fees, range balls, as well as breakfast and lunch. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100. Singles and foursomes are welcome.
