Atlantic Stewardship Bank has been named one of the New Jersey Bankers Association’s Community Service Award recipients for 2009. The list of winners also includes Boiling Springs Savings Bank, Century Savings Bank, and First Hope Bank. New Jersey Bankers Association CoPresident/Co-CEO John E. McWeeney Jr. said, “These four Community Service Award recipients are outstanding examples of the community spirit shared by all of NJBankers members.” Atlantic Stewardship Bank is well known in northern New Jersey for its unique tithing program. Each year, the bank shares 10 percent of its pre-tax earnings with Christian and local civic non-profit organizations. In accordance with the tithing program, Atlantic Stewardship makes hundreds of donations; sending or hand delivering checks to food pantries, Christian missions and ministries, schools, libraries, police and fire departments, and other deserving recipients local to the bank’s branch offices. To date, the bank’s total tithe donations exceed $6.3 million. Atlantic Stewardship Bank’s commitment to community service is reflected in the participation of its associates. Throughout the year, associates have the opportunity to participate in various community service activities that range from building homes and feeding the hungry to singing at a local retirement community and educating children about money management.
