Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • July 22, 2009 Wyckoff Police officers halt narcotics party in tent Wyckoff police officers apprehended five teens and young adults reportedly holding a pot party in a tent they had pitched in the woods near Maple Lake and charged a 18-year-old Hawthorne woman with criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wyckoff Sergeant Michael Ragucci, Patrolman Kevin Kasak, and Patrolman Ryan Tenney quietly entered the woods on foot in the area near Maple Lake, which police say has become a hangout for teens and young adults who drink while underage and use marijuana. The three policemen reportedly encountered two juveniles from Midland Park, ages 17 and 14, and three young adults between the ages of 18 and 20. Inside the tent they found a grinder used to process marijuana, a glass smoking pipe, and a small quality of marijuana. “Our officers will continue to aggressively uncover the locations where our youths are hanging out, and will arrest and charge anyone involved in illegal activity in these locations,” said Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox. “Parents must also play a role in the safety of our children by knowing who they are associating with, and where they are going. In the past few weeks kids as young as 12 years of age have been arrested on narcotics violations.” Wyckoff PTO and parents donate $16,900 to schools The Sicomac School Parent Teacher Organization and a number of parents made substantial donations to enhance education in Wyckoff. The Sicomac PTO donated gifts for the fifth graders, a trip to Philadelphia, a Memory Book, a Memory Book breakfast, a lunch for the Spring Lake trip, a Book Buddy breakfast, towels and DVDs at a cost totaling $7,400. Lucrecia and Joe DiDomizio donated $5,000 towards the outdoor classroom. Magaly and Miguel Martinez also made a donation for the outdoor classroom for $1,500. Michael and Felicia Asch and Andrew Jennis and Harriet Shugarman each donated $1,000 towards the outdoor classroom. The Bergen County Utilities Authority donated $1,000 towards the 2009 BCUA Environmental Awareness Challenge Grant. Trisha Noble made a donation of “United Tweets of America” in memory of Mary Kirsch. J.
