January 14, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 5 Midland Park Midland Park Councilwoman Nancy Cronk Peet, a sixyear veteran of the governing body, was elected to head the council for 2009 during last week’s mayor and council reorganization meeting. Newly-elected councilmen Nick Papapietro and Mike Junta were sworn to their first threeyear terms. “I am looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to work closely with our two new council members,” said Peet. “It should be a very exciting year,” she added. A former 18-year member and president of the board of education, she served for seven years as chairman of the borough’s zoning board of adjustment before her appointment to the borough council in January, 2003. She has been serving as the council’s liaison to the volunteer fire department and ambulance corps as well as to the board of education, and previously chaired the buildings and grounds committee. Peet was also selected to serve as the council representative to the Midland Park Planning Board, a position she has held for several years. She is also a member of the Midland Park Board of Health. A lifelong borough resident and a Registered Nurse, Peet is currently director of claims management for William H. Connolly & Associates in Montclair. Previously, she was director of risk management and legal affairs for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, and prior to that, she was senior negotiator for the Princeton Insurance Co. specializing in medical malpractice. Papapietro, who works in the institutional trust and custody financial services field, is a long-time member of the Midland Park Board of Adjustment.
