The project has been under consideration for several years in order to better accommodating the building department and the municipal court. In discussing the project during last week’s council meeting, ofﬁcials targeted to proposed new entrance to the building, suggesting that it could be incorporated into the existing footprint of the building or eliminated altogether to cut down costs. “Is it necessary?” asked Mayor Joseph Monahan. “Perhaps we can achieve functionality within the existing footprint.” The new more prominent common entrance at the rear of the building was designed to provide uniﬁed access Council seeks to scale down town hall project to all departments. At present the prosecutor meets with defendants in the building ofﬁcial’s ofﬁce. Defendants must meet with their attorneys in the narrow, crowded hallway with no privacy. The tax assessor’s ofﬁce would remain on the second ﬂoor, as would the court/mayor and council chambers.
