Auxiliary branch celebrates holidays

Republicans plan meeting The Midland Park Republican Club will meet on Monday, Dec. 14 at 8:15 p.m. at the Midland Park Library. The meeting will be chaired by President John Meeks. All are welcome. Midland Park Republicans meet on the second Monday of the month. Pre-school Club forming Midland Park Recreation is sponsoring a new Pre-school Club for four- and fiveyear-olds. The group will meet on Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the DePhillips Community Center, 50 Dairy Street, Jan. 5 through 26. Each meeting will be built around a story, craft or activity taught by the recreation director. Registration fee is $20. Forms can be picked up at the center or online at www.mpnj.com under recreation. Toys for Tots gets boost The Toys for Tots Train will be making a stop in Midland Park on Dec. 13 from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. On board the special train will be members of the Marine Corps and Santa Claus, who will stop at the Wortendyke train station to collect gifts for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute the toys as Christmas gifts to needy children. Midland Park Fire Chief Pete Hook and members of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department are asking for residents to help with this worthy cause. New, unwrapped toys may also be dropped off at the firehouse on Witte Drive on Dec. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. or during Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 12 from 8 to 11 a.m. All gifts collected will be brought to the Wortendyke train station for pick up on Dec. 13. For information log onto: njoperationtoytrain.com. Blood Drive set A Midland Park Community Blood Drive is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at Kuiken Brothers, 145 Lake Avenue. The event is held in cooperation with Community Blood Services. To schedule an appointment call (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Board of education to meet The Midland Park Board of Education will meet Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the August C. DePreker Media Center at Highland School.
