Area residents respond to ‘pillows for soldiers’ drive
Area residents have stepped up to the plate over the last few weeks to contribute time and items for the Needlecraft School’s “Adopt-a-Soldier” program. The Midland Park has received donations of toiletries, stuffing material, and funds for the program and is still accepting contributions. Women have also volunteered to help cut, sew and stuff pillows to augment the work done by students. The children in the class make pillows for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those pillows are shipped to the soldiers along with toiletries and other non-perishable items, such as unbreakable holiday tree ornaments, paperback books and DVDs (new or used), handy wipes, powdered drinks, puzzles, holiday or greeting cards, stationery, hard candy, and gum. Needlecraft School Director Ginny Fawcett is still seeking donations of clean, washable polyfill or funds to

Meals for Kids and Midland Park Starbucks are busy preparing hot chocolate and TD North’s elves are ready to man the hot chocolate table and hand out free giveaways. Midland Park students who volunteer to teach the Recreation Winter Theater Arts program, Olivia Fairless, Kaitlin Desbiens, Bailey Kasbarian, Megan Ranges, and April and Allison Gormley will show off their vocal talents. All are members of the Midland Park High School Choir and most have sung in the Bergen County Chorus, performed with The Magicals and Midland Park Players.
