Blood Drive planned Church of the Good Shepherd, along with community Blood Services, will host a blood drive on Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The drive will be held at the church located at 497 Godwin Avenue. To schedule an appointment, call (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed, especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Casino Night comes to town The Midland Park Junior Football and Cheerleading Association will host a Casino Night fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Kennedy Hall at The Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include appetizers, desserts, soft drinks, DJ, $25 in gaming chips, and basket prizes. The cost is $45 per person. Purchase tickets before Sept. 12 and receive an extra $25 in chips. Space is limited, so purchase tickets early. Defensive driving course offered to seniors The Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center in Midland Park is hosting a one day defensive driving course through AARP on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The AARP Driver Safety Program has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads and save money on insurance premiums. Most drivers qualify for an automobile insurance premium reduction or discount. Cost of this course is $16 per person and includes lunch and refreshments.
