Bank seeks variances for signs
by Frank J. McMahon The Hudson City Savings Bank on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Lakes has applied to the borough planning board for variances and waivers from the zoning ordinance to accommodate proposed wall and pylon signage. Thomas Wells, the attorney for the bank, appeared before the planning board in July to provide an overview of the plans for the signage. The board scheduled a public
hearing of the application for Aug. 19. The bank is proposing two wall signs on the front facade where only one wall sign is permitted. The applicant is also proposing a three square foot freestanding directional sign to identify the entrance to the property and, since there is already a freestanding sign on the site, the bank wants a variance to allow more than one freestanding sign.
