She was a learning disabilities specialist for the Mahwah Board of Education for 16 years. Joan Berg, nee Connolly, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Midland Park, died Aug. 2. She was 85. Before retiring, she was a secretary for the Midland Park Adult School. Berg of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Barbara Makela of Midland Park, and Susan Schmalfuhs of Convent Station, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Berg. She was 91. She had worked for the Port Ivory plant of Procter & Gamble in Staten Island. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Conley of Allendale, two grandchildren, and her sister Phyllis Montanti of Staten Island. She was predeceased by her husband Henry. De Hooge of Saddle Brook and Patricia Montero of Costa Rica, two grandchildren, and her sister Maureen Coleman of Windsor, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Wolf. He was a member of the American Legion Post #170 in Rochelle Park and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughter Kathi Healy of Wyckoff and his sister Kathleen Wagner of Texas. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps and Air Force veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Before retiring in 1981, he was an executive for IBM for 37 years. He volunteered at the Center for Food Action, and was a member of the Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale and other community organizations. He is survived by his wife Maryellen (Santoro) Meehan, his children Jeffrey of Royersford, Pennsylvania, Michael of Berlin, Donna of Bedminster, and Moira and Helen both of Allendale.
