Sponsors sought for upcoming event Children’s Aid and Family Services’ third annual Wine and Food Tasting Evening will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Saint Leon’s Church in Fair Lawn. The agency is seeking sponsors for this popular event. The evening will feature a fine assortment of wines and a wide selection of delicious food from some of the area’s finest restaurants. There will also be a special fundraiser featuring fun and unique items. The proceeds from this event will focus on supporting programs for infants and young children in the agency’s care, including Baby Basics and Turrell Child Care & Early Learning Center. Children’s Aid and Family Services is one of the largest regional, nonprofit human service organizations serving northern New Jersey. Inter-chamber networking planned The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, in conjunction with the Mahwah Regional, Greater Hackensack and the Fair Lawn chambers of commerce, will hold a Regional Business Card Exchange on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Illusions at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel, 1 International Boulevard, Route 17 North in Mahwah. This networking opportunity which will feature a premier cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available. Alcohol recovery mass and meeting offered A special mass and support group meeting for all who are affected by the disease of alcoholism will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15 at noon at Saint Paul RC Church located at 193 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. An open meeting takes place immediately after the Mass at Saint Paul Interparochial School, across the street. Alcoholism is a physical, emotional, and spiritual disorder. This disease affects the drinker but it has equally insidious effects on all who are associated with him or her. The mass and meeting take place on the third Saturday of every month. Support for caregivers offered Christian Health Care Adult Day Services at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is holding a caregiver support group from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11. The meeting is open to the public and no reservations are necessary. The meeting will be held at CHCC, 301 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff. Follow signs for Hillcrest Residence. The meeting provides support to people caring for a loved one suffering from dementia and other medical problems related to aging. The meetings are facilitated by Barbara Suskin, a licensed social worker. Information about area social services will be available, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions or vent their feelings and share knowledge with others facing similar issues. Ramsey Run benefit set The 32nd Annual Jack McKeown Memorial Ramsey Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Ramsey Municipal Pool on East Oak Street. The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat (ECCR) is pleased to announce the upcoming performance of Anthony Kearns of the Irish Tenors. Kearns, who has been named “Ireland’s Finest Tenor,” is a founding member of the renowned Irish Tenors and is dedicated to helping non-profit organizations. The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, a non-profit organization providing residential services for people with developmental disabilities, is fortunate to be the recipient of Kearns’ generosity. The performance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Wyckoff. A portion of this year’s registration fee will go to the Jack McKeown Scholarship fund. All pre-race entries must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 16. Country dancers welcome newcomers The North Jersey English Country Dancers welcome newcomers to the Sunday afternoon dance planned for Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood located at 113 Cottage Place. All dances are taught and called and the music is live. Come with or without a partner. This event is the second dance of the new Summer Series in a comfortably air-conditioned hall. Motorcycle ride planned Motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to partake in the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation’s Ninth Annual Charity Run and Motorcycle fundraiser to benefit the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at HUMC on Sunday, Aug. 9, and cap it off with a party under the bridge. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in Lot 17 of Giants Stadium, Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, with riders departing for Rockland Lake Park at 10 a.m. Participants will end their ride and “party under the bridge” at Ross’ Dock in Fort Lee. Charity Run tickets are $25 per person and include the run, food, beverages, and entertainment by Earthgrinders, Crossover, and DJ Fat Jack Monohan. In addition to the festivities, a fundraiser will be held to win an orange-and-black 2009 Harley-Davidson FLTRSE3 Screaming Eagle Road Glide and helmet, donated by Joseph M. Sanzari, first vice chairman of the HUMC Board of Governors. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased
