The bus will be leaving for Showboat Casino at 9:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served in the Community Room prior to departure. The cost is $16 per person and participants will receive $30 slot play from the casino. There will be goodies, prizes, and light snacks on the return trip. Rummage Sale planned The Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church will hold its semi-annual Rummage Sale on Friday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale consists of more than 1,000 items including collectibles, antiques, clothing, toys, household goods, baby items, bicycles, and more. Prices are very reasonable. Trip to ‘West Side Story’ planned On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a theater outing to “West Side Story” at The Palace Theater in New York City. Round-trip bus transportation and preferred orchestra seating is included in the cost of $140. Buses will leave at 10 a.m. from the Franklin Lakes Recreation Building at 1 Vichiconti Way in Franklin Lakes. Thirty-one Cent Scoop Night announced The Franklin Lakes Fire Department will be participating in 31 Cent Scoop Night in partnership with the Franklin Lakes Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins. On April 29, from 5 to 10 p.m., the fire department will be handing out literature on fire safety for all, and there will be temporary tattoos and coloring books for the children. Chamber to host dinner The Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Meet the Leaders of Franklin Lakes” dinner on Wednesday, April 29 at High Mountain Country Club. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, buffet dinner, cash bar, Wii bowling, special fundraisers and door prizes. The cost is $65 per person in advance; $70 at the door. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Franklin Avenue Middle School. Commission to discuss inventory The Franklin Lakes Environmental Commission will hold a public review of the 2009 Environmental Resource Inventory on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Franklin Lakes Public Library meeting room. Last completed 36 years ago, the Environmental Resource Inventory is a living document that indexes the natural resource characteristics and environmental feature of the area. It includes written and visual information. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive.
